How to brew puer?
If you are new to tea making or do not have time for a long tea party - puer can be brewed in the usual, European way.
- Take 5 grams of tea per 350 ml cup.

There are legends about Pu-erh tea, it is famous not only for its healing properties, but also for the notorious effect of tea intoxication, a special tea state, called wise Chinese as Cha Qi (tea energy).
Many people appreciate Pu-erh precisely for this effect, and they are wondering - how to brew Pu-erh correctly in order to “insert”?
First, let's try to avoid such terminology. Puer invigorates, energizes, encourages action, relieving physical tension. You can call this state “puer rushing” or “inserts”, but we prefer to call it simply a tea state.
To get the maximum effect of tea, you should follow some basic rules:
- Do not fuss, do not drink tea in a hurry
- Use good water.
- Take some time for tea, do not be distracted by strangers.
These rules apply to any good tea. Now let's talk specifically about puerh.
Pueras are divided into Shen (green) and Shu (black). Therefore, the temperature of the water for brewing different types of Pu-erh must be different, regardless of the method of brewing. For Shen Puers it is 80-90 ° C, for Shu - 95-100 ° C. Consider this in order to get tasty and healthy tea.

How to brew Puer to insert?
Strait Method (Pin Cha, Gunfu Cha)
Get ready to enjoy this way of tea drinking for an hour and a half. Ideally, you will need a chaban (tea board).
- Take about 10 grams of tea (about a tablespoon for loose Pu-erh or a piece of a half-sized matchbox pressed)
- Prepare the soft water of the desired temperature. Water can be kept in a thermos or on a stand with a candle - so it will not cool and you will not be distracted by heating.
- Prepare the dishes. Brew Puer can be in a kettle or gaivani small, about 150 ml volume. Take small bowls with a volume of 30-50 ml, respectively, the number of participants tea.
- Warm up the dishes. To do this, pour hot water into the brewing and drinking bowls. Let's wait for three breaths and merge.
- Put the tea in a heated dish. Fill with hot water so that the water covers the tea and immediately pour the first tea leaves. Rinse the Pu-erh is very important, so we will rid the tea of unwanted tea dust and moisturize, warm the tea leaf, preparing it for brewing.
- Breathe in the scent of washed tea. We will listen to our feelings and associations. What smells like wet heated Pu-erh? Wood bark? Earth? Maybe chocolate?
- Brew tea. Strait mode is not to insist on tea for a long time, but to spill it repeatedly. Ie, the first brew insist no more than 30 seconds. Spill into bowls. We try.
- Repeat brewing, adjusting the infusion time to the desired strength. Tea in this way can be brewed 15-20 times, with each small bowl receiving new shades of taste and aroma. Do not forget to breathe in the scent of each new brew - you will be amazed how much it changes!
- When the tea starts to go away and you feel wateriness in the taste - you can slightly increase the time of infusion, and then let go of the tea. Admire the leaves after tea. And listen to your feelings.
Puer brewing in a kettle with a button
Brewing Pu-erh in a type-line is similar to brewing by the method of spilling. With the only difference that you do not need to bother with a lot of dishes. A very convenient way to brew for the office, when you want to cheer up, but there is no way to "plant ceremonies."
- Take about 10 grams of dry tea for a 0.5 liter of water. A larger or smaller volume of the kettle with a button, respectively, will require more or less tea.
- Fill with water the desired temperature, pour the first brew.
- Brew tea, insist no more than 30 seconds, pour into cups, enjoy!
- Repeat brewing, adjusting the infusion time at your discretion.

For the classic brewing of pu-er by Lou Yu, you will need a large glass teapot, bowls and a source of fire. Well, as an alternative - gas or electric stove. It is more beautiful and better, of course, to use a burner or a fire for boiling water, but modern methods of heating water are also good when you have a glass kettle that can be put on the stove. In fact, cooking puerh is not as difficult as it may see
- Prepare a large glass kettle that can be set on fire. Choose the size of the kettle according to the number of participants in the tea drinking. For example, in a liter kettle you can cook Puer for 5 people, for this you need about 15 grams of tea.
- We put the kettle with water on the fire or electric stove. Here the show begins! In a glass kettle you can observe three stages of boiling water. Pearl threads - when water with a temperature of 60-70 ° C forms strings of bubbles, rising up - the first stage of boiling water. The second is the crab eye, when larger bubbles rise upwards. And the third - the noise in the pines, when the water turns white and begins to make noise just before boiling. This is our temperature, it's time to add tea.
- It is important to add tea to the water at the boiling stage and bring to a boil. So you get the perfect, balanced to the taste and aroma of the drink.
- Tea is ready, you can drink immediately, pouring through a sieve into cups, and you can leave in this water to achieve a comfortable temperature.
European way
Yes, Pu-erh can be brewed in a familiar, European way. But good tea requires respectful attitude, so the European way is the worst solution for brewing puer.
