Kunming Tea Factory
Founded in 1938. The main achievement of the factory was the invention of wet skirting technology for the preparation of shu-puer, which greatly accelerated the natural fermentation process, while preserving the unique qualities of tea. This allowed us to increase production volumes and promote the variety on the foreign market. Today, the whole world drinks “ready-made” puer, produced just by this technology. In 1973, in recognition of merit, the Chinese Tea Standard awarded Kunming Tea Factory the honorary No. 1 in its registry. In connection with the 1994 crisis, Kunming again curtailed its production and resumed it only in 2004, transferring the "palm of tea" to the Menhai plant. But even now, when many plants are pursuing commercial interests, the Kunming factory remains among those who keep the secrets of traditional technologies, and is deservedly revered by connoisseurs of branded products.
